Dear prospective applicant,
If you are interested in any of our roles, please get in touch with the recruiting manager, come and visit to talk with our employees and volunteers about what it's like working or volunteering with us. We are always on the lookout for new talent so if none of the vacancies below tickle your fancy, please apply through the 'Speculative Applications' link below to let us know .
Many of our employees have developed their careers with us and progressed to managerial roles - you can see some of their stories in the videos here.
We are looking forward to receiving your application. We don't want to waste time and opportunities to meet great people, so the sooner you apply, the sooner we'll get back to you!
A few things to note about the application form:
it will ask to confirm if you have the right to work in the UK
In accordance with the Asylum And Immigration Act 1996, all employers are required by law to check their prospective employees have the right to work in the UK. If not do not have the right to work in the UK we are unable to accept your application as we are not licenced to sponsor anyone who doesn't already have the right to work in the UK.
Kindly note that you will be asked to show the original documents evidencing your right to work in the UK should you be offered a position with us, which you would have to provide before your first day.
if the role you are applying for requires specific experience and/or qualification, you will be asked to confirm that you meet these criteria.
if the role you are applying for is based at the hospice, it will ask if you have reliable access to a personal vehicle to commute to and from the hospice in North Chailey as there is no public transport to get there.
All positions at the Hospice are exempt from the provisions of Section 4 (2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 by virtue of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975, and you are therefore required to disclose all convictions, cautions or bind-overs you have ever received, including those which would otherwise be considered ‘spent’.
Kindly note that it is in your best interest to be fully transparent as having a criminal conviction will not necessarily bar you from working at the Hospice, however not being forthcoming about potential criminal convictions could jeopardise the trust required between an employer and its employees. Whether or not your criminal conviction would prevent you from working for us will depend upon the nature of the position you are applying for and the circumstances and background of your offence(s).
Please note that the summary information for you are applying for will confirm the level of DBS check required. Offers of employment are subject to satisfactory receipt of the appropriate checks from the Disclosure & Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed.
Offers of employment are also subject to the receipt of satisfactory references of employment and occupational health clearance.
The safety of our employees, volunteers and service users remains paramount, so we encourage all of you to get double jabbed and boosted. We will continue to ask existing and prospective employees and volunteers to advise if they have been vaccinated as we will need to have a clear understanding of our workforce’s Covid-19 vaccination status. Rest assured that whilst Covid-19 vaccination is not mandatory, no one will be treated differently based on their personal decision to get vaccinated or not.
