Funding for recent cohorts has targetted those teachers and leaders who work in the most challenging schools or educational settings, serving more disadvantaged communities.
Scholarship funding to cover the full cost of any NPQ course has been available to teachers and leaders from:
the 50% of schools with the highest proportion of students who attract pupil premium funding.
16 to 19 educational settings identified as having high disadvantage.
In addition, teachers and leaders in schools on the RISE targeted intervention list have been eligible for a fully funded place on any NPQ.
Scholarships have been available to all teachers and leaders from publicly funded schools and 16 to 19 educational organisations for the following NPQs:
SENCO
Headship
Early Headship Coaching Offer (EHCO)
Access to funding remains conditional on successful validation of participants’ registration information against Teaching Regulation Agency records, so you must ensure that the information supplied to your NPQ provider matches your teacher record.
If you are not eligible for scholarship funding, you can still undertake an NPQ but either you or your school will need to pay for it.
Please note that applications are currently closed. Cohort 10 is likely to begin in November 2026 and we would expect an announcement re. funding prior to this.
