This video will help visualize what a fraction is communicating. A very important skill for fraction work.
This video will show us how we can find common denominators. A necessary skill for adding, subtracting, and comparing fractions.
This video will teach us what a numerator and denominator represent.
This video will show us how two fractions that are written differently can mean the same thing.
This video will help visually see how we add fractions with common denominators.
This video will show us how we can add fractions with common denominators. Also shows how to reduce fractions after addition.
Use this video to see WHY it is important to find a common denominator to add fractions.
This video will show you how to add fractions with unlike denominators. This video only shows the process, not the why.
This video will show us how we can subtract fractions with common denominators. Also shows how to visualize fraction subtraction.
Use this video to see WHY it is important to find a common denominator to subtract fractions.
This video will show you how to subtract fractions with unlike denominators. This video only shows the process, not the why.
This video allows us to visualize how we multiply fractions
This video will help us review multiplying mixed numbers. Mr. Duerr completely agrees with the video when it states that it is very difficult to multiply mixed numbers without converting to improper fractions.
This video will help us review fraction multiplication.
This video shows how fractions and division are really the same thing. It takes a bit to get to this point but it gets there.
This video will draw out fraction division to help us visualize what is happening in fraction division.
This video will help us visualize dividing a fraction by a whole number using a drawing.
This video does an example of fraction division to review with us the process. In class we say "keep it, switch it, flip it". Meaning we keep the first fraction unchanged, switch the division sign to multiplication, and flip the second fraction.
This video will show how to convert a mixed number to improper fractions. This is useful when doing fraction arithmetic with fractions greater than 1. In Mr. Duerr's class we often draw a checkmark to represent this process. Multiply the whole number by the denominator, then add this number to the numerator to get the new numerator. Denominator stays the same.
This video shows how to convert improper fractions to mixed numbers. In Mr. Duerr's classes ALL answers (except slope or equations) should have answers as mixed numbers!
