Saint Paul American Scholars (SPAS) is designed to help teach young people to become responsible citizens and prepare students for college. That means that they must learn the key attributes of ethical behavior including courage, compassion, integrity, justice, truth, reason, fairness, respect, and honesty in addition to the core academic subjects.
A positive school climate is characterized by quality teaching by instructors and effective learning by students. This requires a safe environment for all who work in and attend SPAS along with an emphasis on citizenship and adherence to rules applied equitably and fairly to all in the Saint Paul community. We believe that parents are essential partners in the educational process and must be properly involved and accountable for the achievement and behavior of their children.

Why Accreditation Matters
Accreditation ensures academic quality for students and institutional quality for teachers and staff. All of a school's processes are reviewed, stakeholders are interviewed, surveys are collected, and evaluations made of the school subject to accreditation. MSA, the Middle States Association, is the very same regional accreditor that verifies schools and universities in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Each accreditor is a partner with SPAS in building a pathway to a better school year after year.
Saint Paul American Scholars utilizes international academic standards for the foundation of their lesson and assessment structures. Academic standards identify what students should know and be able to do in the classroom within a given subject or content area. Standards serve as goals for student learning, guideposts for classroom instruction, and a framework for assessment. The standards used at SPAS in 2022 are: Common Core Math, Common Core English, Next Generation Science Standards, and AERO for Social Studies. Starting in the 2023-2024 school year, SPAS will adopt SHAPE and National Core Arts Standards for PE and the arts respectively.
The vision for SPAS is to create a continuous path of education from kindergarten to college by applying data-driven decisions on learning to our American-style education system. The elementary program is the second step in our vision to bring a fully mapped education to students. Our elementary program will build up developing skills in a student’s journey to secondary school while building a strong link between parents, students, and teachers to address student difficulties and work cooperatively toward student goals for growth.
The secondary program is the final step in our vision to bring your students a fully mapped education to students. Our secondary program is designed to ready students for the rigors of college by acclimating them to commonly used computer programs, providing literacy growth opportunities, and implementing a more mature schedule and rigor in classroom instruction.

What makes SPAS stand out from other schools in Korea?
SPAS Gwanggyo and Bundang are accredited institutions structured for teacher and student support. We have a cohesive administrative team with assigned roles and duties as well as many of the usual structures in place for curriculum, lesson mapping, and differentiation. What makes our school stand out from others is the team itself. Our team is unique and our approach to the structures we have in place comes from the supportive experiences and contributions that can't be found online, can't be downloaded, and can't be imitated. We don't employ teachers at Saint Paul, we employ educators.
