What is "Reading Level" ?

Reading level is a detailed way to pair your child’s reading ability with books they can successfully read and understand. Reading levels are an effective way to measure a child’s reading progress. If your child is primarily reading books at or just above their determined reading level, they are more likely to find reading enjoyable. 

What kind of books you want to read ?

• Fiction: organized by author, subject or genre 

• Non-fiction: organized by number from 000 to 999. These are the main categories of the Dewey Decimal System.

The 5-Finger Test to find Good Fit Books!

Using the 5-finger rule will help you choose a book you can read.

What to do:

• Open a book to any page and begin to read

• Everytime you find a word that you can not read or understand, hold up one fingers

• When you complete the page, count your fingers.
