International Children’s Book Day - Celebrating the Joy of Reading
International Children’s Book Day is celebrated annually on April 2, the birthday of Hans Christian Andersen, one of the most beloved authors of children’s literature. The day was established in 1967 by the International Board on Books for Young People with the aim of inspiring a love of reading and drawing attention to the importance of children’s books.
This special occasion highlights the vital role that books play in shaping young minds. Through stories, children develop imagination, creativity, empathy, and language skills, while also gaining a deeper understanding of the world around them. Reading not only supports academic growth but also nurtures curiosity and a lifelong passion for learning.
The choice of April 2 is a meaningful tribute to Andersen’s legacy, whose timeless fairy tales such as The Little Mermaid, The Ugly Duckling, and Thumbelina continue to inspire generations of readers worldwide.
On this day, schools, libraries, and communities around the world come together to celebrate reading through various activities, encouraging children to explore books and discover the magic of stories. International Children’s Book Day serves as a reminder that fostering a love of reading from an early age is one of the most valuable gifts we can give to future generations.
Women's History Month is a time to celebrate the achievements and contributions of women throughout history. From scientists and writers to leaders and activists, women have helped shape our world in powerful ways. Their stories inspire us to be brave, curious, and determined.
This month, the St. Paul Library invites you to explore books about remarkable women from around the world. Come discover their journeys, ideas, and dreams. Let their stories inspire your own.
Visit the library and check out a book today!
The St. Paul Library is excited to launch the Writing Contest: Inspiring Women in celebration of Women’s Month. Students are invited to explore books that feature inspiring female characters or write about a famous or real-life woman who motivates them.
Through this contest, participants will reflect on the achievements, experiences, and positive influence of women who make a difference in the world. Students can share what they learned from these inspiring figures through a short piece of writing. They are also encouraged to be creative by adding drawings or including meaningful quotes from the book.
This activity aims to promote reading, creativity, and appreciation for the powerful stories of women. Join us and let books inspire you!

Celebrating World Teacher's Day
at Our Elementary School Library
Our school library proudly joined our elementary students in celebrating World Teacher's Day! Oct 5th, 2024 Through a series of engaging activities, students had the opportunity to learn more about the teaching profession and express their appreciation for the wonderful teachers who inspire and guide them every day.
The students participated in:
🌟Reading Sessions to explore stories about teachers and their important roles.
🌟Gratitude Notes - Writing messages of appreciation and heartfelt thanks to their beloved teachers.
🌟Creative Poster Making - Designing posters with thoughtful messages to honor their teachers during the library time and students give the poster to teachers as a pleasant surprise.
Our goal is to create a space where students not only develop a love for reading but also learn meaningful values like respect and gratitude. By participating in these activities, students deepened their understanding of what it means to be a teacher and celebrated the dedication of their role models.
Hope you can feel the spirit of gratitude our students have for their teachers!
