  1. Students use a career video websites listed below to view at least one career video for each of the Careers they identified in the EXPLORE CAREERS activity.

  • Minnesota State CAREERwise Videos – Career videos grouped by Career Clusters. Most videos are about 1-2 min in length.

  • Bridges Connections Career Ladder Videos – Videos focus on career ladders in a specific field, or career pathway. Watch to learn more about not only entry level jobs, but how an initial career can grow.

  • CareerOneStop Videos - Video collection to learn about careers, industries, skills and abilities, or work options and education levels.

  • Spoken Language Translation and Interpreting (TRIN) Program - designed to educate bilingual students who wish to develop professional interpreting skills and prepare for careers in our increasingly diverse communities. • Ask an Apprentice - Students get a chance to talk to Skilled Trade Apprentices - young people not much older than the students - and ask practical, real world questions about their apprenticeship.

  • CandidCareer.com - 1,000s of career videos, that provide job descriptions, loves and challenges, how to prepare for the position.

  • Women in the Skilled Trades - Several videos showing women in working and being successful in various skilled trades

  • Introducing Cybersecurity - This playlist of videos has been curated because the videos speak plainly and clearly about the field, showcase young people's views and accomplishments, capture some of the incredible range of opportunity in cybersecurity.

  1. Then complete a short written reflection by completing the Career Videos Worksheet.

Teacher's Note:

  • Plan on spending a class period or two on this activity. The students will need time to visit the websites, look around, watch a video, and complete their reflections.

  • If you need to borrow a few headphones for students without earbuds, contact Tracy Zanitsch at least 48 hours in advance.
