Students will expand their Spanish skills by exploring new vocabulary, mastering past tense verbs, and diving deeper into the vibrant Spanish-Speaking World!
Our curriculum includes:
Becoming Familiar with the Spanish-Speaking World
Review: Present Tense Regular Verbs, Present Tense Stem-Changing Verbs, and both forms of "to be" ser and estar
Review of 7th-grade vocabulary
Vocabulary associated with: -Food, Meals, and Restaurants -Celebrations, Parties, and Holidays -Health, Medical Terms, and Parts of the Body -Technology and Electronics -Home, Parts of the House, and Household Chores
Grammar:
a. Verbs: i. Reflexive Verbs ii. Preterite of Regular Verbs (Verbs ending in ar, er, and ir ) iii. Irregular Preterites such as ser, estar, and ir iv. Preterite of Stem-Changing Verbs v. Imperfect Tense
b. Comparisons and Superlatives c. Pronouns after Prepositions d. Por vs. Para e. Stressed Possessives (Translates "of mine" or "of yours" Ex: That friend of mine... or That dog of yours...) f. Formal Commands
Concepts will be introduced gradually.
We will start class by reciting the Our Father together in Spanish, checking for completion of Duolingo lessons (optional), and reviewing homework.
