About

Melanie Karniewich, Student Journalist

My name is Melanie Karniewich and I am an undergraduate student at Stony Brook University in the Journalism Program. Alongside my strong academics and part-time jobs, I also spend my time building my future of becoming an informative writer to the public.

I have a strong text-journalism background with the handful of publications produced and more to be released. I am also knowledgeable of the manuscript process from my volunteer position in The Readers of Tomorrow for books being sent to publishers, reading over fresh material that I give back positive comments for the writer. I am familiar with a variety of digital technology- Google Suites, Microsoft Office, Ross Inception, Word Press, Adobe Premiere Pro/Audio, etc.

With my goal of becoming a writer, I can see myself following in my two passions of science or entertainment. Science is something that changes by the minute and it is important to inform the public of the truth. On the other hand, the 'show-biz' industry creates a wide-range buzz to dazzle in an article about a new movie or an upcoming artist to spark interest. I intend for either of these paths to end with a possible position on the publishing side.
