Melanie Karniewich, Journalist

I am a journalist and communications professional with a passion for storytelling in long form articles and short, vertical social media videos. I graduated from Stony Brook University’s School of Communication and Journalism in August 2025, with classroom and hands-on industry experience in reporting, social media production, and content editing. I previously served as a News Fellow at The Times’ New York City bureau, contributed international reporting from Sweden through the Journalism Without Walls program, and was a Senior Communications intern at Stony Brook’s Career Center for two years. Currently, I work as a freelance Video Editor for Interwire.News while seeking opportunities in journalism and communications.
