When fossil fuels are burned, a huge amount of carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere.
99% of the Earth's atmosphere is made up of nitrogen (78.1%) and oxygen (20.9%). And the remaining 1% - carbon dioxide, methane, and water vapor – are keeping the Earth warm and suitable for our lives. It is called a greenhouse gas because it surrounds the Earth like a greenhouse. But now, the amount has increased more than necessary, causing global warming to heat the Earth.
The biggest cause of greenhouse gases is fossil fuels such as coal and oil.
Coal and oil now account for more than 90 percent of the energy used on Earth. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has found that emissions from fossil fuels are the dominant cause of global warming. In 2018, 89% of global CO2 emissions came from fossil fuels and industry. Most of the power plants that make electricity are thermal power plants that use coal and oil, and the fuel for transportation, including cars, is oil. As such, global warming is underway as we constantly emit carbon dioxide in our daily lives.
Then how can we stop global warming? To live on this planet for a long time, we have an obligation to protect it. In fact, there are lots of solutions and they are very easy to act on. However, global warming is still a problem, and the reason it is getting worse is simply that fewer people are trying to improve than those who are not willing to do so. The solution is divided into two ways. Corporate, government level, and personal level. For example, corporates and governments should reduce power plants, reduce the production of cars that require fossil fuels, and produce electric cars, etc. And we should try to drive less, recycle more, plant a tree, etc.
