Introduction

Motivation/Goal

Our topic 'Changes in jobs due to climate change' started from a curiosity about what kind of jobs would be created due to climate change. There are many climate changes in the current world, such as global warming. We thought climate change would significantly impact people, especially their jobs. Also, to recover from this climate change problem, some jobs are needed change to control the critical changes in climates. Our team decided to investigate jobs related to climate change and how these affect each other. We made three specific categories, 'jobs which cause pollution,' 'jobs: Created by climate change,' and 'jobs: Disappearing by climate change.'

Background Information

  • 146 power companies account for over 2.8 billion metric tonnes of scope 1 emissions (CO2e)

  • 583 materials companies account for 2 billion metric tonnes of scope 1 emissions

  • 111 fossil fuels companies represent nearly 1.1 billion metric tonnes of scope 1 emissions

Faced with growing climate risks, the majority of companies say they now integrate climate risk into their business strategy (72%). Companies in the US and Brazil are falling behind the global sample (at 65% and 56% respectively). European companies lead the pack, with French, German, Norwegian and UK companies reporting the highest figures and Italian companies the least.

Others

· Methods and/or Data: Our group will use Internet articles, Video materials, and journals to collect information.

· Expected Results: Climate change has a great impact both on the natural environment and artificial environment on people's lives. An example is a problem such as an increase in carbon dioxide emissions causing the greenhouse effect, which increases the global temperature. As such, environmental policies and solutions are needed to overcome climate change. Our team will explore the various occupations that can put these policies into practice and explain how each job affects climate change in positive ways and what activities they do.
