3D PATH hosted its second ever annual Toy Adaptation event, where students came together to modify popular children’s toys to be more accessible for kids with physical disabilities. The event focused on re-engineering toys that originally required fine motor control—such as bubble guns and squeeze-activated plushies—by integrating large push buttons that are easier to activate. These adaptations empower children with limited hand mobility to engage with toys independently and joyfully. The initiative combines engineering skills with a strong spirit of inclusivity, showcasing how simple innovations can make a big impact in the lives of children with mobility challenges
Following the Toy Adaptation 2024 initiative, 3D PATH proudly donated adapted toys to three incredible organizations: United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of Long Island, Angela’s House, and AHRC Suffolk. These centers support children with developmental and physical disabilities, and our team was honored to bring joy directly to the kids through hands-on delivery events. The smiles, laughter, and excitement from the children as they interacted with the accessible toys reminded us why inclusive engineering matters. By bridging technical skills with community outreach, we aim to make a lasting impact in the lives of children and their families.
Building on the success of previous years, 3D PATH officially hosted its 3rd Annual Toy Adaptation Event in 2025, bringing together students, volunteers, and community members to make play more accessible for children with physical disabilities. Participants transformed a variety of popular toys by incorporating adaptive switches and large push-button controls, allowing children with limited hand strength or fine motor abilities to enjoy independent play.
