OHS Course developed by Lethbridge School Division and shared with CASS and ASBOA by Christine Lee, Associate Superintendent, Business Affairs, and Superintendent Dr. Cheryl Gilmore.
As indicated in one of the opening slides, the course is designed to prepare staff for the start of the school year to ensure that all students and staff are safe when they return to school on September 1.
This course will inform staff about:
What is COVID 19
What are the symptoms of COVID-19
How to prevent the spread
Your rights and responsibilities
What if there is a suspected case of Coronavirus
Preventative Measures, and
other resources available.

HOW WE CAN HELP
• Provide classroom-wide and individualized strategies to support student learning,
development, engagement, attention.
• Problem solve collaboratively with teachers and staff through observation and consultation.
• Determine whether psychological assessment may support the student and their success in
school.
• Clarify developmentally appropriate practices suitable to student’s unique needs.
• Describe the role of individual differences (e.g., medical, psychological, genetic, familial,
etc.) on child behaviour, learning, and development to create appropriate expectations and
goals.
• Work collaboratively to create IPP goals and specific strategies, including coaching and
supporting the way in which strategies may be used.
• Provide Professional Development as requested.
HOW TO CONTACT US FOR SERVICES
Please email, call, or stop us in the hallways if you have questions regarding general classroom
strategies or how to support your students on the whole. If you have any concern regarding a
specific student, we request a brief referral form be completed for tracking purposes. The form asks
for basic information and a description of the presenting challenge/question, which should take only
a few minutes. The form is found through the following link. Alternatively, paper forms can be
printed upon request.
NOTE: All Elementary Second Step training for this resource occurs online. Upon completion of the Elementary programming, teachers will receive a certificate and a copy should be provided to their administrator upon completion. Middle School programming will not receive a certificate upon completion. Please refer to your school leads with this program for any questions you may have.
