what is the stem certificate program?

The STEM Certificate Program is meant to take a student's initial interest in the STEM field and allow them to experience more in-depth learn about various subjects through completing specific tasks.

necessary tasks to complete

1. Participate in a summer internship or research experience in a STEM field and to present at a conference or symposium.

To complete this requirement the internship must be at least 240 hours. See "Internships and Outreach" for more information on my experience.

2. Participate in activities outside of Stone Ridge that focus on STEM/STEAM topics.

This means attending academic lectures or events, camps, short classes, conferences, or interscholastic competitions. The objective is to experience a new environment in which STEM/STEAM is introduced, besides the internship. See "Internships and Outreach" for more information on my experiences.

3. Produce an online portfolio of STEM related experiences.

4. Act as a student ambassador for STEM/STEAM related programming at Stone Ridge. Build community by providing peer-tutoring and attend regularly scheduled STEM CP meetings.

See "Peer Engagement" for more information on my experiences.

5. Complete three core science courses and two advanced placement/honors courses in a STEM/STEAM subject area.

This is defined as completing a minimum of eight units from the Math and Science Departments. See "Academic Journey" for more information on my experiences.
