The Douglas H. Thompson Road Rally is held in honor and memory of Texas Highway Patrolman Douglas H. Thompson, who was killed in the line of duty by a hit-and-run driver on December 7, 1969.

Trooper Thompson served with the Texas Highway Patrol and was stationed in Weatherford. His legacy continues to be remembered through an event that brings people together for fellowship, fun, and a greater purpose.

The first Douglas H. Thompson Road Rally was held on November 7, 2020. What began as a way to honor his memory has grown into an annual tradition—bringing together drivers, local businesses, sponsors, and communities while giving back to causes that make a difference.

Gone, but not forgotten. His legacy rides on. 

The Douglas H. Thompson Road Rally is about more than the drive. In addition to honoring Trooper Thompson’s memory, the rally has become an opportunity to give back to the community.

STOMP is honored to once again be the beneficiary of the Douglas H. Thompson Road Rally in 2026. Through the generosity of rally participants, organizers, sponsors, and supporters, 100% of Road Rally registration fees and donations will go directly to STOMP to support our year-round work in prevention, recovery, family resources, and community outreach.

This year’s Rattler Run will once again share the day with STOMP Fest, with the rally beginning in Santo and ending in Downtown Jacksboro during STOMP Fest 2026: Hometown Throwdown.
