State History
When Kentucky became a official state: June 1, 1792
Kentucky's history before it became a state: Virginia annexed Kentucky and made it into a county because its colony in 1776. After colonists won the Revolutionary War Kentucky settlers began a separatist movement independence from Virginia. On June 1, 1792 Union admitted Kentucky as the 15th state.
