Mexico controlled the territory until the year of 1836, when Texas won its independence, becoming the Republic of Texas, in 1845 Texas joined the United States as the 28th State. The annexation set off multiple events that led to the Mexican-American War in 1846.

Would I want to visit Texas: Yes, I would because there are a ton of different places to visit and good hiking trails to walk on and there are a lot of good restaurants to eat at.
