Franklin High School Athletics Mission

Franklin High School’s Athletic Department will provide student/athletes the opportunity to participate in a competitive athletic environment to build character, learn lifelong lessons, and develop into responsible, moral, and ethical citizens of our community.


Franklin High School Athletics Vision

Participation in athletics at Franklin High School will encourage academic and social growth, while providing a safe, positive, competitive, and equitable athletic experience.


John Bava, Athletic Director

John has played, coached & worked in sports for the past 30 years. John began playing baseball competitively at an early age and continued to improve as an athlete, earning All-League & All-American honors in baseball his senior year at Thomas Downey High School in Modesto. After his playing career was over, he began his coaching career at Grace Davis High School in Modesto as a Varsity Baseball coach.  He earned a Master's Degree in Sports Management at UOP and then began working in professional baseball with the Sacramento River Cats and Sacramento Kings organizations until he started teaching for SUSD in 2013.  Most recently was an Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator for the Baseball team at San Joaquin Delta College.  John is very passionate about sports and helping student athletes achieve their goals.

District Policy for Sporting Events
1. No Re-Entry.
2. Students must have ID.
3. Only students from participating schools are allowed entry.
4. No backpacks.
5. No red or blue clothing unless it is your school color.
