Childhood
Sally Ride was born in Los Angeles, CA, May 26,1951. Sally Ride was interested in space at a young age and her parents gave her a chemistry set, and a telescope. Sally Ride also had played tennis a lot while still in school, playing in junior tennis tournaments. She earned a tennis scholarship for her talent landing her in a all-girl private preparatory school in Los Angeles. She dreamed of becoming a professional tennis player.
Education
Sally Ride's first school was in Encino Los Angeles, called "Encino Elementary." Her High school was Portola Junior high, then she went to Westlake school a private all girl school in Los Ageles. Then she earned four degrees from Stanford University, including a doctorate in physics. Her doctoral research was mainly focused on interaction of X-rays with the interstellar medium.

Accomplishments
Sally Ride accomplished a lot during her life span such as being the first American woman in space on the STS-7 mission. She also became a role model for future generations, inspiring many young woman to pursue STEM careers. She was also a co-founded a company that's called "Sally Ride science", that was mainly focused on STEM.
Later years
After Sally Ride retired at the age of 36, she became a physics professor at the University of California, San Diego. In 2001 she co-founded a company with her partner to inspire young people to take on careers in science and math.
