Dear Sir Knights,
A happy report I think this month, One of our knights who was admitted to hospital with a nasty chest infection and complications, is now home and progressing well. Also the wife of a knight who had a traumatic surgical intervention several weeks ago is also recovering well. I have extended our wishes for further improvement. I have nothing further to report.
What a pleasant month we have had; it seems that we are having “an Indian Summer” going on into October. The “Met Man” on TV appeared to be hopeful that although no heat wave, the warm weather looks like it is going to continue for another week or two. This will be good for the gardeners and wild life. A friend informed me the other day, that crocuses were appearing in his garden and other bulbs seem to be active. Jobs are proceeding , the meadow has been cut, now comes “hedging & ditching!” luckily no ditches but there will be plenty of pruning going on. My grandson is going to be busy. The fauna is still flourishing — the badgers are very active!
The masonic season is now really getting underway with meetings coming in quick succession. I have found that all have been very well attended, its has been good to see that we seem to be getting back to pre-pestilence times. I have had my annual flu booster and the Covid booster has been booked: do take advantage of these boosters so that we can continue to meet and enjoy our activities this winter.
Until we meet again, my very best wishes
Yours in Humilitas et Caritas
Sir Sydney of Belchamp Walter,
Provincial Grand Almoner 1st October 2023
