There are three regional schools in the area: Appomattox Governor’s School for the Arts and Technology, CodeRVA, and Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School for Government and International Studies. These schools admit students from many counties in Virginia, so the admissions process is competitive. CodeRVA uses project-based learning to teach students about technology. Not only will students leave with a high school diploma, but they could possibly leave with an Associate Degree from the Virginia Community College System as well as industry certifications. Interested students don't need to be technology masters to get accepted. Instead, they are looking for students who are passionate toward learning. CodeRVA has a very different application schedule than all other schools. Applications open on January 5, 2026 and close on February 20, 2026. There is no need to contact your home middle school. Instead, their online application can be found here.
