My name is Mrs. Lisa Priest and I am very happy to be one of your child's 5th Grade teachers. I am currently in my 23rd year of teaching. I began my teaching career in 1994 after graduating from Bellarmine University with a dual BA in Elementary Education (K-6) and Special Education (K-12). My first teaching position was at Watson Lane Elementary in Jefferson County where I taught students with Learning & Behavior Disorders for 5 years.
After completing my first year of teaching in November of 1995, I married my high school sweetheart, Noah Priest. We will be celebrating our 29th Wedding Anniversary this year! Shortly before the birth of our first child in June of 1999, I earned my Masters in Education for Elementary School Counseling from the University of Louisville. After having our daughter, Jordyn, I stayed home for a year. I returned to teaching in the fall of 2000 at St. Leonard where I taught 1st Grade. Leaving my daughter proved to be too hard, so I decided not to return to St. Leonard the following school year. I remained a stay-at-home mom for several years until my son, Cameron, was in school here at St. Margaret Mary. I was then fortunate enough to obtain a position at SMM teaching 5th Grade. My dream of teaching at my children's school had come true!
Both of my children have since graduated from SMM. My daughter graduated Summa Cum Laude from Bellarmine University in 2021 with degrees in Criminal Justice, Psychology, & Sociology . She was married in November of 2023 and is returning to school for a degree in nursing. My son graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Kentucky in May with a degree in Psychology. He will be starting his masters degree in Psychology this fall at the University of Louisville.
I feel very blessed to be at St. Margaret Mary and to have the opportunity to teach your child. I am looking forward to partnering with you this year and I hope that 5th Grade is one of your child's BEST school years!
