Our Sub
Our idea was to design a submarine using a 24" acrylic tube. In the tube we would have a 500mL syringe as our ballast tank. At the front of the tube we would have our SONAR unit, a JSN-SR04T, and a Arduino UNO Rev3. At the back we had another Arduino which controlled the motors for propulsion and sucking in water. We moved the propeller using magnets which could control the outside from inside.
We began our project by creating a slideshow with a plan of how we were going to construct our project. In the next class we created our blueprint. We then ordered our base model for the submarine along with the motors and batteries.Â
We then bought our base tube and laser cut our tube caps.
We then 3D printed cones to be the caps to our base tube.
We then 3D printed the holders for our ballast tank and attached them to the top and bottom.
We then connected our mini tube to the cone and base tube cap.
After assembling our cone and the ballast tank we connected to tube between them both.
We then 3D the base of the of the cap and put it together. We then attached it to the base.
After finishing the code for the sonar we transferred it to a flash drive.
We 3D printed a holder for our breadboard and attached bot the sonar and arduino. We made sure it was very secure in the holder and wired the 3 parts together.
