Our main mission is to research the affects of commercial fishing nets damaging coral reefs by using an underwater ROV. Why we are interested in helping solve these issues is because of how much coral benefits our everyday lives, and marine lives as well more importantly. To propose a solution to the issues of coral by commercial fishing nets we will create and underwater ROV. The underwater robot has a camera attached to observe it's surroundings and report the ratios of damaged coral reefs to healthy corals. With this information, we will report the data to organizations that cause these damages using 3 dimensional map of various areas in the ocean by using our GPS and ultrasonic sensors attached to the robot to remember where it has traveled. This information will go to organizations like, California Fish and Wildlife and the North Pacific Management Council.
