The song All About Self Control is a catchy tune to teach children about self-control. It repeats lyrics like “Even when something goes wrong, take a deep breath.. stay calm. Even when you’re having fun, bring it down– just stay calm!”. It constantly provides reminder to children that it is okay to have emotions, but you must be able to come back to baseline. It tells that when you win a game, be conscious of your celebration level and notice when you’re bumping into others. Or, when you’re joking with friends, notice when you are making inappropriate comments. This video is great for children to recognize normal emotions, but being careful of how they are expressed.
This video teaches children the basics behind why they sometimes have a difficult time regulating their emotions. It provides simple, common, scenarios which students can relate to. For example, the video begins showing a child who is unable to play soccer with his friends due to uneven amount of people. The boy got so mad that a "small problem became a big problem". This video heavily empathizes with children without belittling their emotions.
