Reminders and FAQs for 2022 Commencement Ceremony
REGALIA
ALL GRADUATES
The deadline to order regalia is this Sunday, April 24. Please enter your SMC ID (without "0" if that is the first digit) at the following link to complete your regalia order | Order Regalia. Credential-only candidates would select "KSOE Credential Recipients Purchase," and Master's Degree, Master's Degree + Credential, and Doctoral candidates would select "Graduate Degree Purchase."
VETERANS
SMC is providing special cords to recognize veteran graduates, which can be picked up at the Registrar's Office at the Filippi Administrative Building. These cords are available to veterans only. The deadline to pick up cords is May 10, 2022.

How can I participate in the Cultural Graduate Celebrations?
- Today, Friday, April 22, is the last day to register to participate in any of SMC's Cultural Graduate Celebrations. Please find more details about each celebration and registration at the following link | IC's Cultural Graduate Celebrations.
When and where is the Graduate Commencement Ceremony being held?
- KSOE graduates are expected to gather at the outdoor pavilions outside of the St. Mary's Stadium at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 22. The Graduate Commencement Ceremony will be held at St. Mary’s Stadium and begin promptly at 10:00 a.m.
Do my family and friends need tickets to attend the ceremony?
- Tickets are not necessary and there is no limit on how many guests graduates can bring. Campus Safety does ask that graduates bring a maximum of 2 vehicles per graduate party due to limited parking on campus and space in the surrounding areas. Parking passes are not required.
Is there a reception area for after the ceremony?
- The college will host one large celebration with seating and light refreshments for all graduates and guests on the Chapel Lawn after the ceremony concludes.

Congratulations, Class of 2022! Saint Mary’s College is planning a traditional, in-person Commencement this year—the first since 2019—to commemorate your hard work and dedication as you approach the finish line of your undergraduate journey!
All students must check with their department to determine their eligibility.
Save the Date
Commencement Liturgy
Friday, May 20, 2022, at 5 p.m
As is our tradition, Commencement Liturgy will be celebrated at 5:00pm on Friday, May 20, 2022, at the opening of Commencement Weekend. Our theme, “Light for All the World to See” is itself a reminder to our graduates of one if our greatest hopes for them as they leave Saint Mary’s. The liturgy will be a celebration of the Eucharist in our Lasallian Catholic tradition, and all members of our Saint Mary’s Community, whether Catholic or from another faith tradition, are most welcome.
Graduate Commencement
Sunday, May 22, 2022, at 10 a.m.
Graduate Commencement will be held on Sunday May 22, 2022, at 10 a.m. We ask that graduates arrive two hours prior to the start time (8 a.m.) in preparation for the event. We recommend you inform your guests to expect traffic and allow time to secure parking. The event will also be live-streamed/recorded for guests who are unable to attend the event in person. You are invited to the reception that will be held by your department on the chapel lawn after Commencement.

Applications due Friday, April 22
The applications for the Intercultural Center’s four Cultural Graduate Celebrations are now live and close Friday, April 22. Cultural stoles will be provided for FREE for all graduates. For questions, contact TheIC@stmarys-ca.edu or (925) 631-8545.

Order Your Regalia

You may now order regalia online and have it shipped to you directly! You will need your name, student ID#, email, and Commencement date to order. Regalia orders are completed by your height range and school (i.e., School of Liberal Arts). Students must first apply for Commencement in order to receive access to ordering regalia. Complete your order by the April 24, 2022 deadline.
Commencement Portraits
Thursday, March 24 & Friday, March 25
Grad Images will be offering make up dates for students to take professional commencement portraits on campus on the following dates:
Thursday, March 24: 3:30 p.m-7:30 p.m.
Friday, March 25: 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
Students will meet in the Filippi Administrative Hall.

All seniors must verify their eligibility for commencement on GaelXpress 2.0.
Save the Date
Commencement Application Due
Application due date extended to March 31, 2022
The Undergraduate Commencement Application will be available through GaelXpress 2.0 until March 31, 2022. Students without immediate access to the form, and with two or fewer remaining requirements on their academic evaluation, may submit the Commencement Eligibility Review Petition by March 31st, 2022.

Post Commencement receptions, Grad Grounds, are returning to celebrate your milestone achievement of graduation with those closest to you, right here on campus! Grad Grounds, formerly known as "Plots," are a one-of-a-kind tradition only at Saint Mary's College. Don't miss your opportunity to participate. You are free to arrange your reception as you wish. Enjoy a family potluck or have your reception professionally catered. Find more information, including guidelines, through this link.
