All About Mrs. Spurio 

• I received both my undergraduate and Master’s degree from Neumann University.

• I continue to take workshops and attend conferences to stay current with education.

• This is my 24th year teaching. I have experience from pre-k through second grade.

• I love spending time down the shore. Avalon is my favorite spot! 

• I love reading and spending time with my family and friends.

• I have three boys Michael, Timothy and Ryan.

  • Michael is our oldest and he is happily married. 

  • Timothy just graduated from high school and is taking a gap year. 

  • Ryan just started high school. He is playing freshman football. 

    • I have a cat named Buddy and a dog named Daisy

Classroom Supplies

• Please see the school website for a copy of the supply list.

School Uniforms

• The children will wear their gym uniform only on gym days. 

• If you purchased the “Dress Down” pass at back to school night, please pay attention to the back of the pass. There are days where the children are not permitted to wear their gym uniform. 

• Please see the uniform policy for kindergarten in our school handbook. 

• All shoes must be velcro!

Snack

• Please pack a morning snack separate from your child’s lunch. The children will be eating morning snacks outside.

• All water bottles should be plastic. I do allow the children to refill as needed. 

Lunch

• Bento boxes are fine as long as they have a lunch box/bag to carry the actual Bento box. Please remember that the children will be eating lunch in the cafeteria this year. 

• Please let your child know if they are getting hot lunch for the day. 

Secret Reader

• I will send out a Sign Up Genius for Secret Reader. Please make sure that you have all your clearances on file with the office. Secret Reader will give you the opportunity to come into the classroom and read two of your favorite stories to the children. 

• You can also come in to read to the children on your Child’s birthday. 

Birthdays

• I will celebrate each birthday with the children. The children can bring in small treat bags and a special treat as long as it is on the approved snack list. 

• Parents, you can also come into the classroom and read to the children to celebrate your child’s birthday. 

Email/Communication

• The main office will send home a communication about twice a month as needed. 

• I will send home any communication home in the blue folder. 

• You are encouraged to send me notes via the blue folder. 

• I will place a monthly calendar in the back sleeve of the blue folder that will have important dates for kindergarten. 

• I will send and answer emails within the school day. Please allow 24 hours for a response. 

• I will not answer emails after 4pm on Friday or over the weekend. 

Dismissal

• Please make sure that you are updating the parent portal each day. At the end of the day, your child will be dismissed according to the parent portal.

• Please make sure your child is aware of any changes to their dismissal. 

Field Trips

• Kindergarten will take two field trips.

• Our first Field Trip is quickly approaching to Cherry Crest Farm. We will need chaperones. Please make sure that you have your clearances on file with the main office. 

• If you are not chosen for this trip, you will be picked first for our spring trip.
