Students were each assigned a state to research and report on. Some brave souls volunteered to do two! A rubric and checklist were given to each student. Much of this project can be completed in school. The part that will need to be done at home is the assembly of the backboard. I have a sample on my links page in the social studies section. We discussed that time management is key in completing this project. Although the students are able to research and type up much of their information in class, they will still need to print out papers to mount on their boards. I went over some tips that I have found helpful.
Tri-fold boards can be found at the Dollar Tree but it is hit or miss. Letters can also be purchased there as well. You can also find supplies at Staples, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Target and Amazon.Â
Rubber Cement is a good substance to use to mount items on the board as it does not bubble.
Arrange all of the required items on the board before you start gluing to insure that you have everything where you want it.
Use the checklist to double-check that you put everything on your board. Your name should go on the back of your board.
You may change into a costume and/or bring in props.
You will present in the gym on April 10th at 1:30 p.m. in the gym.
Projects are due that morning at 8:00 a.m.
Have fun!
