REMINDERS - FROM WEEK ENDING 9/25/26:
PREK SPEECH & LANGUAGE SCREENING:
Delco Speech Center is partnering with SMM to provide Speech and Language Screenings FREE OF CHARGE. If an area of need is noted, the parents will receive a screening report and advice on the next steps to proceed in securing services for your child. Please consider following up on this wonderful opportunity to receive a free speech and language screening for your child.
FIRE DRILL:
We will be practicing a fire drill in the next week or so, and again throughout the next month, as a class, and other various emergency drills. If this is your child’s first time in school, it may be a good idea to talk to them about the sound of an alarm and why we practice for emergencies. We will be having this conversation as well, but it's always a good idea to have this talk at home to ease any fears. We will continue to talk about this and other safety procedures in October during Fire Safety Week.

Please send in an apple with your child on MONDAY this week - any color or variety. We will be doing lots of fun activities this week using real and pretend apples and conclude the week with making our own homemade applesauce - YUM!

Monday will be a Sports Team Dress Down Day. Please see Mrs. Bauer's email for appropriate dress-down guidelines. Congratulations to all of the SMM K-8 students on the amazing job they did with the i-Ready testing this past week!

When food shopping for next week, please pick up any variety and/or color of apple for your little one to bring in for APPLES Week!
If you have not done so already, please send in a pair of well-fitted headphones (non-Bluetooth) to be used for Tech-time. Please place them in a labeled gallon Ziploc bag for safekeeping.
If you have not done so already, please also be sure to send in a labeled art smock or old small adult t-shirt ASAP for your child to use during our messy projects.
Please place a small snack for morning break in a SEPARATE location from their lunch, preferably the front pocket of their school bags. This helps them build independent skills when unpacking during the morning arrival routine.
Thank you for all of the supplies that were sent in over the past week- we truly appreciate your generosity!

Dear Parents,
Week One was off to a wonderful start to our Pre-K4 School Year! We are so proud of your little ones and how well they are adjusting to their new teachers and classrooms. The upcoming weeks will include lots of play time, adjusting to new friends, new teachers, and new rules. We will also be working on our color and shapes, while also learning to write and/or recognize our names, cut with scissors, trace over lines, and use glue! We will be continuing to practice these skills in the next few weeks before we introduce our main focus of early literacy and math.
REMINDERS:
Blue Folders from Back to School Night should travel to and from school every day. Please be sure to empty what needs to be kept at home from the LEFT side of folder and return to school what is on the RIGHT side of folder.
If you have not had a chance to do so already, please return the Back to School Night paperwork as soon as possible.
The “Story of Me” papers should be returned by this upcoming Monday.
Please also remember to place a small snack for morning break in their backpacks in a separate location from their lunch bags. If your child will be attending Cares that day, please be sure to write Cares on their snack and keep separately from morning snack. This will help foster independence in your child as they learn to separate these items for later retrieval during the classroom day.
All students will need a pair of well-fitted headphones (non-Bluetooth) to be used for tech time. Please place them in a gallon ziplock bag labeled with their name for safekeeping. Thank you to those who have sent them in already!
All students will also need a smock/oversized t-shirt to wear over their uniforms for painting/messy projects. If you have not had a chance to send one in to school, please be sure to do so asap as we will be starting some painting projects next week.
Rest blankets will be sent home every Friday for a good cleaning for the following next week. Please be sure to send back in on Monday morning.
