Science Fusion is the curriculum used for science. Lessons from the curriculum are coupled with in-class lab activities as well as at home projects to further teach and apply scientific concepts. Topics covered include:

This year in Writing I will help students navigate the writing process from draft to published piece. When a piece is published we will have a Writer’s Celebration! The types of writing we will cover this year are:
Point of View
Expository
Informative
Personal Narrative
Fiction (fantasy/make-believe)
Essay (to convey ideas support by facts and events)
Grammar (which includes spelling) will not be taught in isolation. We will study grammar through our writing, mentor sentences, novels and mentor texts
This year the 5th graders will study geography of the northern and western hemisphere. We will make history come alive with lots of hands-on activities and projects. The units we will cover this year are:
USA, Canada, Middle America, Europe through Time, Europe Today, and Northern Eurasia.
We will focus on the 5 themes of geography with each unit of study. The five themes of geography are: movement, region, place, location, and human-environment interaction.
The textbook we use is My World Interactive World Geography ( Western Hemisphere).
