Anyone who is 18-35 years old at the time of the trip is welcome to attend. World Youth day (WYD) is a worldwide celebration of our Catholic faith that only takes place every few years. The most recent one took place in Lisbon, Portugal, in 2023, with Westphalia having sent a group of 17 to it (see pictures from it here). If you have any questions about the 2027 pilgrimage, would like more information or would like to attend, please email Austin Fox at afox@stmarychurch.net.
We will be holding a meeting on Thursday, Dec. 18, at 6:30 in the parish office basement to discuss World Youth day (WYD) 2027 in Seoul, South Korea. The pilgrimage will take place from Aug. 3-8, 2027, and anyone who is 18-35 years old at the time is welcome to attend.
If you are even potentially interested in coming along, we ask that you attend this meeting on Dec. 18, as we are trying to gauge how many people might be going. We do not need commitments from anyone for quite some time, but again, need to at least gauge interest.
WYD only occurs every several years, and is a life-changing trip for all who attend. It is a worldwide celebration of our Catholic faith in which millions of people gather to one location to celebrate our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Those who attend return home with a deeper love and passion for Christ and what He's done for us.
We will be discussing the logistics and finer details of WYD at the Dec. 18 meeting. If you have any questions about the pilgrimage or about the meeting, please email Austin Fox at afox@stmarychurch.net.
