"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”
— Mark 10:45
Every spring, we provide our teens an opportunity to take an "Alternative Spring Break" trip, in which we head to Kentucky to do housing work in a poverty-stricken region of the country. We work alongside an organization called Christian Appalachian Project, as they provide our lodging, food, tools, worksite information and much more.
Any teen who is 14 years or older is not only welcome to come, but is highly encouraged to. We are called by Christ to serve those who are less fortunate than us, and this trip gives our teens a chance to do just that.
The work we are asked to do is suitable for each person's age and skill level, and no one is asked to complete a task they are not comfortable with. Tasks range from roofing houses to putting in new floors, and everything in between. Not only does the work impact the lives of those we help, but gives the teens a chance to experience the joy that comes with serving others. A lifetime of memories and a bond is also made annually on this trip amongst the attendees.
