6-8 Social Studies
Hey SMS! This is my third year here at Saint Mary, and I currently teach social studies to grades 6-8, and religion to grades 5-6. In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I have the sixth grade homeroom, and am the athletic director here at Saint Mary. Before coming to SMS, I was studying at Marquette University. While at Marquette I double majored in history and education, and minored in political science. I student taught in Wauwatosa Wisconsin, before coming here to Saint Mary. Over the past two summers, I taught at Stevenson high school and am looking forward to applying some of their ideas here at Saint Mary! I currently reside in Roselle, Illinois with my family. In my free time, I enjoy riding my bike, playing the guitar, and root for the Cubs, Bears, and Bulls. My educational philosophy is that learning should be centered around the students. I strive to create a curriculum that engages students to create meaningful inquiries and discoveries, and often encourage them to apply their learning to create various projects we work on throughout the year. In addition, I strive to encourage students to connect our topics in social studies to become better members of both our church and local communities.
