6th Self Portrait

I created my self portrait using Pinta. I made my portrait step by step using the tutorials provided by Mrs. Sedgwick. The first step was to copy a template of my head and shoulders for my portrait and insert it into a new layer on Pinta. Secondly, I had to create a new layer and trace over the template in black using the line tool. For the third step I had to create my eyes. I did this by drawing two lines using the line tool and adjusting the lines to match the shape of my eye. Then I drew a pupil in the middle of my eye using the paintbrush and then I filled in the eye with white. On the fourth step I made my nose by using the line tool and making two small curves to match the outer nostrils of my nose. I did not do my entire nose. Then on the fifth step I made my mouth. Again I used the line tool and made 3 lines and adjusted it until it looked similar to the shape of my mouth. Then I filled my mouth in with a light shade of pink/peach using the fill bucket tool. For the sixth step I made my ears. I drew one on the side of my head where my ears would be and then duplicated the layer so they were both at the same latitude. After the sixth step I merged all my layers together and filled in my head and ears with my skin color. Then I made a line at the end of my neck and adjusted the line to make the collar of my t-shirt and then I filled in the shirt with grey. Lastly I made my hair by using the line tool to make it look like my hair. I filled it in with my hair color using the fill bucket. I enjoyed this assignment because I like to draw on the computer, even though I prefer drawing on paper I still liked this project.
