ADULT AND STUDENT VOLUNTEERS
Serving at Camp 4:12 is an exciting and rewarding experience, and holding a successful camp depends greatly upon the hard work and dedication of the amazing people who volunteer to make camp an awesome week for our campers.
Below you'll find details for serving as an adult, high school student or middle school student. Youth who have graduated high school and are over the age of 18 are considered adult counselors.
We look for adults to serve as counselors, elective leaders, kitchen helpers, etc. (see full list below). High school students who are going into 10th grade and higher also serve as cabin counselors and as volunteers in the various roles listed below. Rising 7th through 9th grade students can apply to serve as junior counselors. Jr. Counselors will stay in cabins with the camp leadership staff and interns and will help out with various support tasks around camp. Older JR Counselors with some experience may be placed as the 4th leader with a cabin. Our goal for Jr. Counselors is to help them experience servant leadership and train the next generation of camp counselors.
No guarantee is given that we will have space for all volunteer applicants. We have space for a maximum of 16-20 high school counselors (rising 10th-12th) and around 10 Jr Counselors (rising 7th through rising 9th). Our team carefully reviews applications and makes selections based on gifts, experience with camp and relationship to the ministries of each church. Camp 4:12 covers the full cost of camp for adult and high school counselors. Junior counselors who are accepted will pay $175 for the week of camp since they will be receiving training and instruction from paid staff and volunteers and since they will be participating in many activities. The $175 covers what we have to pay the camp for each overnight participant.
There are many opportunities to serve including:
Cabin Counselor Elective Leader Life Guard
Kitchen Help Last Day Clean-up Camp Nurse
Recreation Leader Music Team Member Craft Helper
Counselors typically fill many of these roles in addition to being a cabin leader, but all of them other than a cabin counselor do not require staying at camp overnight. If any of these pique your interest, please complete the application below. There are opportunities for volunteers to stay the whole week, overnight or to just help out during a specific day or two.
All volunteers must fill out an application. Each application will be reviewed by our leadership team. We will select volunteers based on need and space as well as qualifications for the positions. All adult volunteers must pass a background check to help with Camp or be on one of our sponoring church's Safe Sanctuaries approved list (which requires passing a background check)
INTERN PROGRAM
Our Intern program is a great opportunity for college students to gain experience working with children while earning a stipend to put towards their education. Interns will help out getting things together in the weeks leading up to camp and will be given leadership responsibilities. If you have at least a year of college experience or equivalent, have a love for children, and would love to be a leader at Camp 4:12, then we want you to apply!. You can apply by filling out the form below and submitting a Volunteer Application.
