St. Margaret’s is the oldest girls’ school in Singapore and the Far East. Founded in 1842 by Mrs Maria Dyer, a missionary from England who was moved by the plight of young girls sold into slavery, St. Margaret’s was established to house these homeless girls and give them a values-based education in a Christian environment. Our founder and those who came after inspire us with their commitment and faithfulness.

We celebrate our 181st anniversary this year. Through the years, St. Margaret’s has grown into a vibrant learning institution that remains committed to the holistic education of its students. As a community, we continue our endeavour to look after the well-being of each child, helping to nurture her and grow her talents. We have adopted the tagline #BeWell #BeConnected #BeALight which is aligned to the direction articulated in our strategic objectives. It emphasises the importance we give to growing our students in terms of their heart, body and mind. We stay true to our mission to deepen positive relationships, developing future-ready and other-centred young ladies who will be the salt and light in their community

As you explore this website, we hope to provide a glimpse of how our rich heritage has spurred us on to prepare our students to step out of our gates with warm and fond memories of the school, having been blessed and going forth to find opportunities to grow and glow for God..
