Our Rich History

Mrs Maria Dyer

Mrs Maria Dyer was moved by compassion for young, homeless girls.

  • Founded in 1842 by Mrs Maria Dyer, a missionary from London. 

  • Moved by compassion for young, homeless girls who were being auctioned as slaves for the homes of the rich, she started a home-cum-school for them.

  • Her efforts led to the setting up of the first girls' school in the Far East eventually the founding of St. Margaret's School (Secondary).
