The core purpose of PLGs is for teachers to develop a shared understanding of the connection between the L@SL framework and regular classroom practice. PLGs allow for collaborative discussions that help teachers to focus on their own professional learning focus with an intention for continual improvement. There is a whole school reading and research focus which drives the group discussions.

Each PLG has a leader who is responsible for guiding the group's learning, capturing dialogue and contributing to the design of discussions.
PLGs are led by a staff representing a range of departments. Groups are also designed to include a representative staff member from each department. This allows for rich perspectives and discourse during group meetings.
Learning Leaders chair PLGs and additional groups are led by teachers who advocate for, participate in and lead strategies to support high-quality professional learning opportunities for colleagues that focus on improved student learning (Standard 6.4.4)
In Junior School, PLG discussions take place in groups during specified Wednesday afternoon meeting times.
PLG Leaders guide the discussion. Groups include representatives from varied Stage and/or Year teachers.
