STEM learning outcomes demonstrate students' STEM literacy necessary for their next level of STEM learning and for post secondary and work force readiness.
NARRATIVE
St. Louis School offers numerous curricular and extra-curricular opportunities for students to develop life skills to prepare them for life after they graduate. Students are frequently presented with situations that encourage them to practice the 4 C's of STEM: collaboration, critical thinking, communication, and creativity.
In addition to gaining experience in the 4 C's, SLS students are provided with many opportunities to develop and practice more general skills that are crucial to success both in and out of school. Our students practice public speaking skills through activities like Speech and Debate Club, Student Council, and First Lego League presentations. They learn responsibility and citizenship through assigned classroom jobs, and through volunteer work with Service Club and during church services. Our 8th graders learn professionalism through activities like morning announcements, mock interviews, and “teaching” days in which they are responsible for collaboratively teaching a lesson to primary students. Our guidance counselors provide education about social and emotional situations to help our students interact successfully with peers and future employers.
