Letter "U" ~ " Under My Umbrella"
Welcome back! I hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable break! Well we are in the home stretch for this school year and have only a little over 7 weeks left. It is amazing how quickly time goes and how much the students have grown in such a short time. Looking forward to finishing up this school year with some fun projects and activities that are planned.
That being said, this coming week we will be learning about the letter ”U” and our theme will be “Under My Umbrella”. We will be talking about spring and all the different changes that we see at this time of year. A very exciting week is ahead and one students love! This week in school we will be starting our lesson on butterflies. The arrival of the caterpillars will be on Tuesday. We will then watch over days how they transform into butterflies. Students will learn all about the life cycle of a butterfly and when they are fully formed we will release them as a class. A mini book “Butterfly Butterfly” will be coming home for your child to color and practice “reading” with you at home. Once they have done their best coloring and practiced reading it with you at home, they may bring it back to school for me to see and get an opportunity to read it with me at school. Nothing is mandatory, but just a reenforcment of what they are learning at school. Students will paint umbrellas and rain at the easel . This week we will have two sensory bins! One with underground creatures for the kids to examine and explore.. The other is filled with rainbow packing peanuts, unicorns, mermaids and fairies that I’m sure they will love. We will make an umbrella from paper plates, straws and decorate them with stampers. The kids will be working on sequencing with the stages of the life cycle of a butterfly. In religion we will be talking about how God made the us and the earth how we must take care of both. I know it is hard for parents not to know what what your child is doing in school each day, so make sure you check out photos that I upload each month.
Reminders
Rest Towels/Mats will go home this week to be washed
With the end of the year quickly approaching, I ask that you please talk to your child about behaving in school and following the rules.
Have a Great Week!
