Students will begin learning about multiplication. They will learn how repeated addition is related to multiplication and will use arrays and grouping to solve multiplication problems. We begin with the basic foundation facts of multiplication. Multiplying by 0,1,2, 5 and 10
These facts allow students to solve any multiplication problem.
For instance:
7X8?
Break apart 7 into the foundation facts of 5 and 2.
5X8=40
2X8=16
40+16=56
7X8=56
It is essential they know their foundation facts so please practice skip counting by 2,5, and 10!

Chapter Six
Multiplication and Division Patterns
(As we begin this chapter, we will be skipping the lessons on Division. We will come back to them once the students have a strong understanding of the multiplication concepts and can apply what they know to division.)
The test on Chapter Six will be on Thursday, December 4th. It will just cover the multiplication lessons.
Multiplication Madness on Wednesdays!

They are allowed to retake ANY quiz they want for a better grade. (Anything below a 92%) (They can also retake them as many times as they want and the best grade will be taken) All final quiz grades will be averaged for a multiplication test grade each quarter.
