At the sacrament of First Pennance and Reconcilaition, believe that Jesus invited us to share in His peace. Let us remember that he is full of gentleness and forgiveness. God knows everything about us. He will always lead us and forgive us if we sin.
The Eucharist is “the source and summit of the Christian life.” “The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch.” (CCC 1324)
Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation begins the academic year prior to the planned sacrament. The packet to the right contains the necessary paperwork that is required before your child can be confirmed as well as the important dates relating to Confirmation. The study guide is full of information that your child will need to know for the proper reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation. Your child will cover this material in the classroom but it is imperative that the child continues to study the packet through the summer and into the fall. As part of the Confirmation process your child will be tested in the fall on the information contained in the study guide. We would also ask that you begin discussing with your child whom they would like as a sponsor and talk to them about a name for Confirmation. While they are doing this, have them read about the patron saints that they might consider.
This Sacrament is a combined effort of both the parents and the child. With this in mind we hope that you and your child will work together to make this a spiritual experience for all.
