Your child is a reason to celebrate! Having a Star of the Week is a great way for

our class to learn about each other as well as practice speaking in front of a group

and asking questions (this helps us develop our oral language skills and prepare for

reading). In our class, the star student gets a full week of celebrating how special

they are. During this special week we will acknowledge the child’s birthday. For summer birthdays, we will acknowledge their half birthday.

All about me Monday:

Create a poster and share with the class. The poster will highlight our star student

and will be displayed so we may admire all the things that make your child special.

Talent Tuesday:

Share or demonstrate a special hobby or talent with the class.

Wonderful Words Wednesday:

We will read a favorite book that your child will bring from home.

Friendship Friday: We gather on the rug in a circle. Each student will have a

chance to share something nice about the birthday/special student as we pass

around a birthday stone.
