Thank you all for coming to the Meet and Greet. It was a pleasure to meet you and the students. I was delighted to share the activity of making ice cream in a baggie with them.
And even happier when we were able to get to our stem activity. Life is good in grade three!
After we made our ice cream in a baggie, we adjourned to our classroom, where we broke into groups to work on a STEM activity. Students reviewed the STEM steps and were given paper and pencils. They had to devise a game that could be played in the classroom on rainy days when there is no outdoor recess. Students managed to get to the planning stage and shared their ideas with the class orally. We ran out of time, so we planned to finish the game next week.
Below are pictures from our ice cream activity. Enjoy!
Sorry I do not have any for our STEM groups. I got so involved I forgot to take pictures.
Below are the websites for the recipes for ice cream in a bag.
Ice Cream in a baggie. I used this site for the recipe.
Ice Cream in a baggie science I used this site to look at the science. (It also contains a recipe.)
A few tips. Use really good quality bags. Put the ice cream mixture baggie in another baggie to protect it. Then place in the gallon bag with the ice and salt. Wrap the whole thing in a towel to keep from getting hands cold and to absorb the moisture as the ice melts.
You can add crushed oreos, or chocolate chips after you make the ice cream.
Students put all the ingredients together in a baggie.
Students paused to pose for a pic!
Mine didn't look like ice cream!
Thanks for coming!
