Reading
Students are reading historical fiction stories and working on the comprehension skill of identifying cause and effect within a story.
The essential question for this week is: How can one person change the way you think? Students will be taking an assessment on this comprehension skill on Tuesday.
Language Arts
The next topic in grammar is verb tenses.
Words Their Way (Spelling/Phonics)
Students will receive their new word sort on Monday.

Writing
Students wrote a persuasive speech as a class. This week they will decide the topic of their own speech and start brainstorming reasons to support their thesis.
Math
Students will start topic 12 on understanding fractions as numbers.
Science
Students will be learning the difference between weather and climate, how climate changes and will be able to describe world climates.
Social Studies
Students will be learning about the first people and throughout the chapter will be using historical evidence to determine cause and effect.
Religion
Students will be learning about how we worship at Mass, focusing on the different parts of mass.
