In December 2019, the first Covid-19 case was discovered in Wuhan, China. On January 20, 2020, the first case in the USA was reported. On February 2, 2020, Donald Trump restricted travel from China to the USA. On February 3, 2020, the Diamond Princess was stranded at sea. On March 11, 2020, Covid-19 was declared a global pandemic by the WHO. On March 13, 2020, St. Joseph schools were closed. On March 17, 2020, the first confirmed case of Covid-19 was found in West Virginia- we were the last state to discover a positive Covid test. On March 25, 2020, all US public schools were closed. On March 24, 2020, Governor Jim Justice locked WV down. There are numerous other dates that mean so little now. Dates will never encompass what we truly felt when it happened. We were alone, scared, full of doubt, worried, and lonely; and so were the people on the Diamond Princess. The Diamond Princess was a cruise ship locked down on the waters outside Japan due to its Covid-19 outbreak. It created a sample where scientists could analyze the effect of Covid-19. Also, it started a debate on the upper class, and lower class aboard the cruise ship. Furthermore, it injured the cruise ship industry.
In conclusion, there is finally a common thread running through our world. We have all been through something similar. The traumatic experiences we went through fighting Covid are something we can all relate to. Even though we were not stranded on a cruise ship. We can still understand how the people on the Diamond Princess felt, which is something so special. Finally, we must all remember the unity we can hold instead of the sadness during the Covid-19, which was endless.
