Action Park

Introduction

My topic is about the extremely dangerous amusement park called Action Park. It was opened in 1978 and closed in 1996. In these 18 years, there were six deaths caused from the park. There were also many injuries caused from their attractions. There was an enclosed water slide with a loop, a ride with no brakes, and a wave pool that caused lifeguards to rescue over two dozen people a day. Learning about historical events helps us to not make the same mistakes as the people before us. Because of Action Park, we know not to make an enclosed water slide with a loop. We learn from Action Park that safety should be put first. The creators were so focused on the thrill and freedom that there was no safety. I chose to research the topic because it’s insane. People were getting injured and dying, but that didn’t stop anyone from going. I don’t understand how it stayed open for as long as it did. There were literally lost teeth stuck in the Cannonball Loop slide that cut into people. When they tested the slide with a test dummy, it came out decapitated. How was it allowed for living people to go on this slide? How was it even allowed for the park to exist?
