Primary Sources
Pandey, S. (2020, February 11). In PARAGRAPH ON RAKSHA BANDHAN. Retrieved from https://www.teachingbanyan.com/paragraph/paragraph-on-raksha-bandhan/
One of the primary sources I used had the annual focus on the defination of Raksha Bandhan. As well as why it is celebrated, and what we do during this holiday. This was actually the first starter of a good website that had a lot of good information that I needed to do this project.
(n.d.). In When Is Raksha Bandhan (Rakhi) in 2021?. Retrieved from
https://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/india/raksha-bandhan
I used this source because, even though it shows the information on Rakhi, I needed to find the date of when the holiday is celebrated this year. I didn't realize until after checking the date that it changes every year of when Rakhi is celebrated. All I guess to remember that it is on some day in August.
Secondary Sources

One of the secondary sources that I chose to help me for this project is about how the holiday started. In other words, the history, date and how it is celebrated in India. I chose this because I think that when learning about a holiday, its important to know where it was originated from.
Allard, S. (2020, July 31). In 5 things to know about Raksha Bandhan. Retrieved from https://www.hinduamerican.org/blog/5-things-to-know-about-raksha-bandhan
This was chosen as another secondary source because the website has five main things on what to know when celebrating Raksha Bandhan. One of the things we can forget is that there are holidays that are celebrated aroud the same day as other holidays. For Rakhi, the holiday that is also celebrated is Balarama Jayanti.
(2011, July 7). In What is Raksha Bandhan (Rakhi)?. Retrieved from https://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/hinduism/holydays/raksha.shtml
I used this source because it caught my eye to it being organized in a way to help me understand the main points of what is rakhi and why it is celebrated. I liked how it has main points of each important part of the holiday. One important thing I found from the website is that what is the definition of what the words Raksha and Bandhan mean.
(2001, August 5). In Rakhi: its meaning and significance. Retrieved from https://www.amritapuri.org/3539/rakshabandan.aum
This was one of the secondary sources I chose because it also showed the detailed reasoning as to why we celebrate this holiday. As well as a deeper dive into its significance. This source was different from the others because it showed a message to Rakhi, which I think is a leading to symbolism of why Raksha Bandhan is celebrated.

The sources listed above have their own answers to the following questions of what is the Indian holiday, Rakhi, or also known as Raksha Bandhan. I think these sources will guide and help me on how to teach others what we do on this special holiday.
