About the Library
The mission of the school library is to provide an environment where students have access to resources and services that will enable them to become life-long learners and active participants in a dynamic society as well as thoughtful and ethical users and creators of ideas and information. The school library seeks to be an advocate for literacy and to instill a love of reading, in all its varied formats, in all students.
The American Association of School Librarians (AASL), a division of the American Library Association, is the guiding organization for developing school library standards and frameworks. The end goal of these standards is to "prepare students for life-long learning, informed decision making, a love of reading, and the use of information technologies."
For a more in-depth look at the standards, please visit AASL's standards framework, published on their website here.
